At Picton Family Medical, we aim to provide quality, affordable healthcare to as many people as possible. That is why we are a mixed billing practice, offering both bulk and mixed billed appointments.
What is the difference between bulk billing and mixed billing?
If your appointment is bulk billed, the doctor accepts the Medicare rebate as the full fee for their service. This means there are no out of pocket costs to the patient.
For mixed-billed appointments, the patient must pay the gap fee in addition to the rebate covered by Medicare.
Please note that bulk billing is only available to children under the age of 15, with a valid Medicare card.
At Picton Family Medical Centre, bulk billing is applied to all children under 15, regardless of which practitioner they see.
How will I know if my appointment will be bulk or mixed billed?
Some of our doctors exclusively bulk bill while some mix bill. Note – gap fees apply for adults 16 years and older. You can see your doctor’s billing method on their profile on our ‘Doctors’ page or the appointment booking page. If you still have questions, feel free to give us a call.

After hours fees run from 1 pm Saturday.

Please note a $50 fee will be charged for no-shows.
We require two hours’ notice in advance for cancellations.
