Dietitian Services

We know nutrition is key to overall health.

That’s why we offer dietitian services alongside our weight loss and management services. Dietitian services are also available in community health centres, which provide diverse services and contribute to public health initiatives.

We provide evidence-based advice to help you achieve your health goals through dietary changes.

What is an Accredited Practising Dietitian?

A dietitian is a healthcare professional who specialises in human nutrition and dietetics. In Australia, dietitians are different from nutritionists.

While both can work in public health, research and teaching, dietitians have additional qualifications to work in medical settings, the food industry, and community nutrition programs.

Dietitians undergo extensive placements in hospitals and community nutrition programs, showcasing their ability to address the nutritional needs of diverse populations, including those with specific health conditions.

Our dietitian has a university degree in nutrition and dietetics and is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) with Dietitians Australia. This accreditation means you are seeing a professional recognised by the Australian Government, many state governments and private health insurers.

Why See a Dietitian to Manage Health Conditions?

A few reasons to see a dietitian include:

  • You have a chronic health condition such as diabetes, heart disease or high blood pressure
  • You are overweight or underweight
  • You have food allergies or intolerances
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You want to improve your overall diet and nutrition
  • You are an athlete looking to optimise performance through nutrition
  • You have digestive issues
  • You are recovering from an eating disorder

Our dietitian can provide evidence-based health advice and personalised strategies to help you manage health conditions and improve your overall health through nutrition.

What to Expect at Your Dietitian Appointment

Initial Consultation

In the Initial Consultation, your first appointment with our dietitian will be 45-60 minutes. During this time, the dietitian will:

  • Ask about your medical history and current health concerns
  • Discuss your usual eating habits and patterns
  • Ask about your lifestyle, including physical activity and stress levels
  • Ask about your health goals
  • Do a nutritional assessment
  • Answer any questions you have about food and nutrient needs

Using this information, our dietitian will work with you to create a personalised nutrition plan that considers your needs, preferences and cultural background. The dietitian may also provide medical nutrition therapy as part of the personalised nutrition plan.

Follow-up Appointments

Follow-up appointments are usually 30-45 minutes.
During these sessions, the dietitian will:

  1. Monitor your progress
  2. Provide extra tips and information
  3. Adjust your nutrition plan as needed
  4. Discuss any challenges you have had
  5. Offer ongoing support and motivation
  6. Provide ongoing nutrition advice tailored to your needs

The number and frequency of follow-up appointments will vary depending on your individual needs and goals.
