What does mixed billing and bulk billing mean?
Bulk Billing means the GP accepts the Medicare rebate as the full fee for their service, and so there is no out of pocket costs to the patient.
At Picton Family Medical Centre, bulk billing is applied to ALL CHILDREN aged 15 years and under, and adults aged 65 and over, regardless of which practitioner they see.
Picton Family Medical Centre is a mixed billing general practice. This means that doctors working at the practice are Independent Health Practitioners who set their own fees.
There are GPs who exclusively bulk bill (no gap for all ages). And GPs who mix bill (gap fees apply for adults 16-64 years of age but children <16yrs and adults >65yrs are bulk billed).
To see whether your doctor is bulk billing or mix billing, please see their profile on our Doctors page or on the appointment booking page.
